FOOTBALL REGISTRATION CLOSED

Flag Football is offered for players aged 5-6 as of September 1, 2011.   Teams practice 1-2x per week and play games on Saturdays.

Tackle Football is offered for players aged 7-12 as of September 1, 2011.  Teams practice 2-3x per week and play games on Saturdays.

July 16, 2011 Skills Clinic is $50.  The clinic will be held at the Lake Travis High School upper fields. This is a wonderful opportunity for new players to be introduced to football fundamentals, and returning players to re-acclimate prior to the upcoming season.  It is a half a day session (8am-12pm) that comes with instruction from LTYA volunteers and LTHS players, motivational speaking from volunteers, LTHS coaches and LTHS players, and a t-shirt.  If your child will be participating in our Fall program, this will also give your child an opportunity to visit with his fall coach.  Please wear cleats, t-shirt, and athletic shorts to the clinic. We'll provide water and Gatorade. We strongly recommend attending this clinic.

****Important:  In the past we have charged a higher registration price and provided helmets & shoulder pads to players.  We are unable to effectively keep up with advances in equipment technology in a uniform and cost effective fashion.  Going forward, we will require parents to provide helmets & shoulder pads.

We will sell our current equipment which has all been reconditioned and meets all safety standards.  The helmet/shoulder pad pair will be priced to keep the total cost of registration and equipment in line with 2010 registration prices.  In addition, we have exclusively partnered with Riddell to offer new equipment that meets our standards and meets all of our coloring requirements.  There will be a variety of equipment from which to choose.  Equipment sale days will be assigned by team and will be on June 6, 7, 13, and 14.  These will also be the days we sell our existing equipment.  In addition, we order our jerseys from Riddell.  Since the Riddell rep will be on hand measuring kids for shoulder pads, we will custom order jerseys to fit each child properly.

Exact equipment offering descriptions will be sent to each team prior to their equipment days.

Please note the latest updates on football equipment fitting and team formation:

We will have teams formed and finalized by June 13. We will have mandatory equipment fitting/sale on June 15-17 at Hudson Bend Middle School. Your head coach will introduce himself to you via email by the 13th and let you know your team's assigned fitting time and day. It's important that you attend you'd assigned fitting in order to assure proper and timely equipment fitting and delivery. All equipment may be purchased with a check only.

*****Important:  Football games start the last weekend in August.  Practices begin the first week in August.  It is VERY IMPORTANT for each player to attend ALL practices.  This is a developmental league where we ease the tackle players into wearing equipment and experiencing contact.  Failure to attend practices in August puts each player behind his teammates in this regard.  Please keep this in mind when scheduling family vacations.

The regular season ends in late October.  Playoffs end in mid November.

Regular registration ended on May 31, 2011 and late registration runs through June 25th.  Teams will be formed shortly after regular registration ends.  Players may register late, but each player registering after May 31, 2011 will be charged a $50 late fee, and placement on a team will be limited to availability.  Late team placement will occur on a first come first serve basis.

In an effort to ensure an even playing field, Mid-Tex strives to ensure complaince regarding ages, weight limits, and proof of age/residence.  In addition to standard waiver & parental behavior forms, each team will ask each player to provide a valid birth certificate, recent report card, utility bill, and physical.  The league will also weigh each player and certify their weight one time prior to first game.

Takes On Deion Sanders' Truth Football Teams

Truth Primetime

NFL legend and former Dallas Cowboy Deion Sanders brought three teams from hisTRUTH Football Academy to Lake Travis High School on Saturday to scrimmage theLake Travis Youth Association Cavaliers. The TRUTH teams were all coached bySanders and included two of Sanders' sons as well as the son of another Dallas greatEmmitt Smith.

The Cavaliers were outscored in each of the three games - but played well and had agreat time. The charity games generated over $2,000 which was split between the twoprograms and will be used to fund scholarships for kids in both LTYA and the TRUTHAcademy.

LTYA would like to thank Deion and everyone associated with the TRUTH Academy aswell as the Lake Travis Independent School District for helping us put on this successfulevent. LTYA would like to give a special thanks to our football commissioner DaveSmith for organizing such a positive and fun event for the players and families in theLTYA community.
